For over 50 years (1966-2018), Catholic Charities Disability Services and Ministries has offered persons with disabilities, throughout the Diocese of Cleveland, opportunities and resources to live life to their potential and to participate fully in Church and society.
Mary Lou Lamb
March 19, 1919 – Feb.26, 2019
Mary Lou Lamb was a long-time friend of Disability Services & Ministries! She was very involved in our Outreach Ministry with Sr. Leonard “Nun” Kelley, visiting adults with disabilities at the now closed Apple Creek Developmental Center, gathering with the participants at the weekend retreats and joining us at the Walk of Hope and Journey to Bethlehem every year. Mary Lou quietly went about serving persons with disabilities. She was very dedicated.
You can read her obituary and see what a fulfilling life she led – 21 days shy of turning 100! Her funeral was more of a celebration with a focus on a life spent giving to others. We will truly miss seeing Mary Lou at our events! Please keep Mary Lou and her family in your prayers.
Catholic Charities Annual Appeal 2019
We are proud Disability Services is featured in the 2019 Catholic Charities Annual Appeal. Shaye & Sharita Taylor are wonderful advocates of what we do at Catholic Charities. But more importantly, they are wonderful advocates of persons with disabilities and promote abilities rather than disabilities.
Watch the video to hear what Shaye, Sharita and Director of Disability Services, Marilyn Scott, have to say about the wonderful programs at Disability Services. You will also learn about more programs Catholic Charities offers for those in need.
Thank you to our donors – we could not offer our programs and activities to persons with disabilities without your support.
Our annual Journey to Bethlehem mass was held Saturday, December 1st! We celebrated in Tremont at St. Augustine Church with Bishop Roger Gries, Fr. Joe McNulty, Fr. Ben Jimenez, Deacon Ray Daull and seminarians from St. Mary’s Seminary. The International Order of the Alhambra assisted in all aspects of the mass and the St. John Vianney Choir provided our beautiful music! The Journey to Bethlehem Mass is a celebration which takes place the first Saturday of each December for persons with developmental disabilities and their friends and families. Persons with disabilities fill liturgical roles in the mass and take part in a offertory procession which builds the Nativity scene.
