We are excited to announce that effective immediately, Reverend John M. Pfeifer, has been appointed Scout Chaplin of the Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting (D.C.C.S.)by The Most Reverend Daniel E. Thomas, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Cleveland! He replaces Reverend Neal Walter as Scout Chaplain. Rev. John is the Parochial Vicar at Saint Albert The Great Church, North Royalton and has had extensive experience in ministry to, with and for youth. He has been a Scout and Scouter for many years. As a scout, he earned Eagle Scout status – the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Boy Scout program. He will continue to serve his parish troop as Chaplain, too. Some of his new responsibilities include: working to provide the best possible climate for Scouting in the diocese; assist selection of candidates to serve as chairmen of diocesan sub-committees for D.C.C.S. service; and supervise the spiritual welfare of Catholics in Scouting in the diocese. We are grateful for Reverend Pfeifer’s willingness to minister to the Scouts and their leaders. His first official event will be Presiding the Annual Court of Honor Liturgy at 2:30 p.m. on April 30, 2017 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Cleveland. All those involved in Catholic Scouting in the diocese are invited to help welcome Reverend Pfeifer by attending this year’s Court of Honor.
