A Peace and Justice Library
Housed in the Catholic Commission of Summit County’s offices is a peace and justice library. The Micah Center is a lending library with books, videos, and educational materials on church documents, Catholic social teaching, justice and peace issues, National Issues Forums and other related topics. It is open to all in the Diocese of Cleveland.
If you have the ability to visit us during regular working hours, individuals and small groups have the room to meet and conduct research. There are soft seats for small group discussion, a small meeting room, and a work station.
Some of the materials are perfect discussion starters for special programs or catechesis of small groups. Along with the materials, we offer help in planning programs for a group or a parish.
The Center has materials for the JustFaith program in order to allow for more parishes to participate. These materials, especially the DVDs are excellent for social concerns committees and adult study groups.
There is no charge for borrowing materials from the Micah Center. DVD’s books, and other materials may be picked up in person or mailed (for the cost of the postage) and returned within a three week period.
Complete the Micah Center “Sign-Out Record Book” and include your name, address, telephone number and email address.
Should the material borrowed come up lost or not returned, we will invoice you for the cost to replace that particular item.
Our Micah Center also offers an area to sit and read or view a DVD in the quiet and peace of a living room setting. We hope you will return repeatedly to become familiar with all that the Micah Center has to offer in the area of education, spirituality and peace and justice topics.
