Parents are an essential part of the early learning experience and are welcomed and encouraged to participate in all aspects of the program. Each family is assigned a family advocate who helps and encourages them with the following items
- enrollment process
- creating family partnerships goals such as kindergarten readiness, parenting education, job readiness, adult education and housing assistance
- provides referrals to assist in achieving family partnership goals
- partners with disabilities and health and nutrition to ensure families are receiving appropriate services
If you have a child who is enrolled at one of our sites then you have the opportunity to participate in the parent committee group. In the beginning of each school year, the parent committee elects its officers who include chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary and treasurer. Each month a meeting is conducted at each site to discuss classroom activities, upcoming events and community representatives are present to provide parents with information and services.
Each parent committee group then elects representatives to serve on the Policy Council. The Policy Council meets once a month with Catholic Charities Early Learning Program management team, community representatives and Catholic Charities Board members to advocate and make recommendations to improve our program. From the Policy Council group, parents can be nominated to represent Head Start at various advocacy and training events.
