Exposing children, adults, and families to different art forms, will enhance their exposure to, knowledge of and participation in the arts. Introductory classes in keyboarding, music, dance, drumming, drawing and painting are led by professional artists and students from premier art organizations in Cleveland. Classes are followed by a performance or display of works completed, which are open to the public.
Expressive Art Classes
Children, ages 5-12 will learn dance and expressive art during weekly classes held at the Center from 4:30-6:30 pm each Monday until May 22. Ms. Yvetta Eley, who has had a distinguished career in the arts for more than 40 years, will lead the classes, which will culminate in a program featuring program participants. The classes are free.
During Summer Camp 2017, children and youth will learn keyboarding, drumming, dancing, and other forms of artistic expression.
History of Gospel Music and Spirituality Presentation
Mr. Lafayette Carthon, an acclaimed educator, and an award-winning musician will talk about the history of gospel music and spirituality on Thursday, April 13 from 10:30-11:30 am. The program is ideal for adults and seniors. The talk is free and open to all.
Embracing Arts is open to children, families, and senior adults. The project consists of introductory classes in dance and music, followed by performances, taught by professional musicians and artists. Embracing Arts has full support of the several of Cleveland’s premier art institutions including, The Cleveland Museum of Art and The Music Settlement.
