DCCS_PatchThe Catholic Committee on Scouting (CCS) of the Diocese of Cleveland is a church committee of concerned Catholic lay people and clergy who see as their mission the constructive use of the program of the Boy Scouts of America as a viable form of youth ministry with the Catholic youth of our diocese.

Updated Processing & Order Policy for Light of Christ and Parvuli Dei Emblems – When submitting completed Light of Christ and Parvuli Dei Emblem applications (with payment) for Diocesan Scout Chaplain approval, cards and emblem orders, please allow up to two weeks processing time before expected receipt.  Checks should be made payable to:  Youth & Young Adult Ministry and CYO Office

Emblem Price Change for All Religious Emblems Programs Begun in 2018 – Effective January 1, 2018, the purchase price of emblems have been increased due to manufacturer & shipping cost increases.  Download New Price List Here.

Light of Christ Designed for 6-7 years old Cub Scouts Parvuli Dei Designed for 8-10 years old Cub Scouts.
Ad AltareDei Designed for any registered youth in a Troop or Crew of the Catholic Faith. Pope PiusXII Designed for Venturing Crew Members and Boy Scouts 15 years old and older
Light is Life Designed for Boy Scouts, 12 -13 years old of the Eastern-rite Catholic Churches. Scouts in the Eastern Catholic Churches work on Light is Life rather than the Ad Altare Dei emblem.

St. George Emblem

  • The St. George Emblem is the National Catholic Committee on Scouting® emblem awarded by a(n) (arch)diocese/eparchy.
  • The purpose of the St. George Emblem is to recognize the recipient’s outstanding contribution to the spiritual development of Catholic youth in the program of the Boy Scouts of America.

National Catholic Unit Excellence  Award – Pope Paul VI

About this Award

Cooperation, development, and program are the key words in the recognition of Catholic chartered units in earning the National Catholic Quality Unit Award – Pope Paul VI.  The adult leadership responds to training not only in Scouting lores, but training in Catholic National Catholic Leadership Development, and religious counseling.  The Scouts in each Pack, Troop, Team, and Crew/Ship respond by participating in the religious emblems program respective of their status in Scouting.

About this Award

The purpose of this program, offered by the Catholic Committee on Scouting of the Diocese of Cleveland, is to recognize the Charter Partner and to help motivate and improve the effectiveness of the individual unit and its Adult Leadership.  And to provide each youth with Quality programming which encompasses the religious, vocational, educational, and ecumenical aspects of Scouting under any auspices.

For the Unit:  A Certificate and a Colored Ribbon bearing Bishop Pillas’ Crest for the Units’ Standard.

Each January, eligible units should submit their certification as required.  Deadline is February 1.  Presentation of the recognition should be in conjunction with the Diocesan Awards ceremony.
