The transition from childhood to adulthood can be difficult. Leadership Camp strives to make that transition a little easier. The program is geared to offering campers at the edge of childhood the best of both worlds—one more summer as a camper, while growing in responsibility toward service to others and the community. Leadership Campers will receive instruction and training in CPR and First Aid as well as Life guarding, and may receive a certification for those skills if they are able to pass the American Red Cross tests for these classes.
Leadership Camp is a two week program, with a break from Saturday to Sunday during which campers can go home to do laundry, rest and visit with family. The first week is spent learning new skills and about the operations of the camp. The 2nd week is where that new information is put into action. Campers reside in a cabin as an assistant to the cabin counselor and work with younger campers to lead them through their schedule during the week. Leadership campers have one chaperoned field trip during each week of the program. This experience can provide a platform from which these young people can step into employment in a variety of settings with greater confidence and competence.
*We no longer require the physician’s authorization medical form except for campers with diabetes or epilepsy/seizures/convulsions.
