For more than 100 years, Catholic Charities has served the Diocese of Cleveland. Our programs have changed over the years, but our commitment to serve the poor, protect the vulnerable and welcome the stranger has not wavered.
These are unprecedented times due to the global outbreak of COVID-19, or coronavirus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently advised against gatherings of 10 people or more for the next eight weeks. All Ohio schools have been closed at least through April 5 as was mandated by Governor DeWine.
Catholic Charities will continue to serve local families with critical services while taking precautions to minimize risk to all staff, volunteers and clients. We are reassessing key services to continue while suspending services that are non-critical at this time. Our team will continue to serve and empower clients, but adaptations are being made in order to reduce in-person contact.
Catholic Charities will continue to provide services as, as appropriate, and in line with CDC and ODH guidelines.
Catholic Charities will be monitoring this closely and plans to resume all services in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Health’s recommendations. We will continue to maintain staff wherever possible, although many staff will be working from home. For all questions about services, please call (216) 334-2900.
Catholic Charities’ services and staff rely on the continued prayers and donations from the public to continue serving those in need. Our request in these trying times is that donors and funders maintain their regular donations and payments. We will be responsive and accountable for how resources are allocated and for any adjustments that are made to our services.
Ways to support us at this time:
Through faith and prudent action, Catholic Charities calls for continued solidarity to reduce the spread of the coronavirus and to also ensure that those who rely on social services, like food assistance, mental health counseling, and emergency assistance continue to be connected to the resources they need daily. Please monitor our social platforms to get our latest updates.
During difficulties such as this, we are at our best. I encourage you to pray for the healing of the world during this very challenging time.
Yours in Christ,
