OFF SEASON CONTACT BETWEEN CAMPERS AND STAFF
It is the policy of Camp Christopher that staff members refrain from exchanging emails with campers. While such communication is generally healthy and positive, and while we hand pick our staff and consider them outstanding, we cannot guarantee their behavior when they are not under our supervision and program structure. We have instituted a policy requiring our staff not to accept campers as “friends” on Facebook or other social networking sites. Certainly, our counselors are friends with their campers, but it is a professional friendship, not a peer friendship, and we do not feel that it is developmentally appropriate for either camper or counselor to have access to the kind of personal information that often appears in Facebook profiles.
