Join us for the World Meeting of Families this August in Dublin, Ireland!
We are offering a 9-night Diocesan Pilgrimage around Ireland and to Dublin to participate in the World Meeting of Families. More information about the Pilgrimage including registration can be found below.
“Held every three years, this major international event brings together families from across the world to celebrate, pray and reflect upon the central importance of marriage and the family as the cornerstone of our lives, of society and of the Church” (World Meeting of Families Website). Pope Francis chose Dublin, Ireland to host the World Meeting of Families this year.
August 19 & 20 – Welcome to Ireland
Depart the USA and arrive at the Shannon Airport. You guide and drive will be there to greet and escort you to the bus for the trip to Galway. In Galway, enjoy a walking tour including Lunch Castle, home to the mayors of Galway, Saint Nicholas Church founded in the 13th century, and the famous Spanish Arch. Enjoy a cruise on Lough Corrib River where you will see Claddagh village and the majestic cathedral. Next, continue to Westport where you will enjoy dinner, bed & breakfast.
August 21 – Knock & Ballintubber
This morning travel to Knock where, in 1879, it was claimed that the Virgin Mary, St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist were seen at the gate of the parish church. Ever since, million have made pilgrimage to the town. Continue to Ballintubber Abbey, the only church in Ireland founded by an Irish king that is still in regular use. Return to your hotel in Westport to enjoy dinner, bed & breakfast.
August 22 – Westport to Kerry
Today you will depart your hotel in Westport and travel to Kerry. Pass through the Burren Region to Cliffs of Moher. With sheer cliffs dropping 600 feet to the water below, it is one of the most impressive stretches of shoreline on the west coast of Ireland. Take the Shannon Car Ferry across the Shannon Estuary. Continue to Tralee and check into your hotel. Overnight, dinner, bed and breakfast at your hotel in the Killarney area.
August 23 – Ring of Kerry
Delight in some of Ireland’s most spectacular scenery as we travel around the Ring of Kerry where the sea crashes into the soaring coastline. Continue to Killarney and enjoy a jaunting car ride. Overnight, dinner, bed and breakfast at your hotel in Killarney or area.
August 24 – Kerry to Dublin
Depart your hotel in Killarney. Visit the Rock of Cashel. Continue to Kilkenny for lunch under own arrangements. Visit Kilkenny Castle. Continue to your hotel in the Dublin area. Overnight, dinner, bed & breakfast at your hotel in Dublin or area. +
August 25 – Dublin
This morning you will enjoy a panoramic tour of the city. Visit Trinity College. Visit also the Guinness Storehouse. This evening attend the Festival of Families concert. * Transfer back to your hotel. Overnight, dinner, bed & breakfast at your hotel in Dublin or area. +
August 26 – Dublin
Today you will have the morning at leisure. This afternoon attend the closing mass for the Festival of Families.* This evening enjoy dinner and entertainment at the Abbey Tavern, Merry Ploughboy Pub or Taylors Three Rock Pub. Transfer back to your hotel. Overnight, bed & breakfast at your hotel in the Dublin area. +
August 27 – Farewell
Transfer to Dublin Airport for your flight home.
