CYO Cross Country is open to boys and girls in grades 3-8. Boys and girls participate in separate leagues. Practices may begin on August 1, followed by a regular season that begins at the end of August. For each meet, runners in grades 3-6 run 1.5 mile while those in grades 7 and 8 run two miles. The program concludes with the exciting Championships in October.
The goal of a CYO Coach is to facilitate a positive environment in which athletes can grow physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually. For a list of the requirements to be a CYO Coach, visit the How to be a CYO Coach page.
CYO encourages each child to develop at their own pace while working for a common goal by regulating mandatory participation rules. The participation requirements are clearly defined in the sport rules. It is our Hope that each athlete can make a significant contribution to their team.
Genesis 1:27 reminds us “in the Divine image God created humanity.” CYO Athletics encourages every athlete and every coach to accept one another with compassion, respect, patience, kindness, humility and understanding.
Cross Country runners pace their strides to finish the race and they can hold their head to the sky! CYO Cross Country, the great race!
