Renewing the Covenant: The Science and Theology of Natural Family Planning for a New Age
Saturday, January 13, 2018 9 a.m. – noon
The Center for Pastoral Leadership: 28700 Euclid Ave. Wickliffe, OH 44092
July 25, 2018 will mark the 50th anniversary of Pope Paul VI’s encyclical Humane Vitae, which beautifully portrays the Catholic Church’s teaching on human sexuality, marriage and responsible parenthood. In his 2016 exhortation, The Joy of Love, Pope Francis proclaims the “teaching of Humane Vitae and Familiaris Consortio ought to be taken up anew, in order to counter a mentality that is often hostile to life.” The Department for Marriage and Family Ministry presentation, Renewing the Covenant, provides a thorough overview of Natural Family Planning covering both Church teaching and the Science and effectiveness of NFP. This workshop is designed to equip ordained priests & deacons, certified lay ecclesial ministers and those in formation with theological understanding and language to convey the largely unknown science and beauty of NFP to Catholic couples and faithful.
Bill Boomer, Director, Marriage and Family Office and Kathy Patton, Diocesan NFP Coordinator, will be the presenters and will detail the resources available from the USCCB certified Natural Family Planning Program. A directory of NFP teachers is posted on our diocesan website: http://ccdocle.org/program/natural-family-planning-classes.
There is not cost for this seminar.
Priests, deacons & pastoral ministers are highly encouraged to attend! Spouses of Deacons and pastoral ministers are also welcome!
